Travel Medical Insurance – International Emergency Care Benefits

When you travel outside of your home country you will also have these International emergency care benefits, if you have a good Travel Medical Insurance policy; emergency medical evacuation, emergency reunion, return of mortal remains, returning minor children and political evacuation. If anything should occur while in another country which would require the use of any of these benefits having them could save you thousands of dollars. Let me explain in more detail what these Travel Medical Insurance benefits are.

The first is the Emergency Medical Evacuation benefit. This is extremely important to you, the traveler, if you are involved in an extreme accident or serious illness and are not near adequate medical facilities. If so you will be evacuated to the nearest qualified medical facility; expenses for reasonable travel and accommodations resulting from the evacuation will be covered; and the cost of returning to either your home country or the country where the evacuation occurred, up to $500,000. This $500,000 is independent of the policy maximum. Without this travel medical insurance benefit you would be responsible for the possible tens of thousands of dollars such a medical evacuation could cost.

The second of these benefits is the Emergency Reunion benefit. If you do require a Emergency Medical Evacuation you are covered up to $50,000 for a maximum of 15 days for the reasonable travel and lodging expenses of a relative or friend: either the cost of accompanying the insured during the evacuation or traveling from the home country to be reunited with the insured.

The Return of Mortal Remains is used If a covered illness/injury results in death, expenses for Repatriation of bodily remains or ashes to the home country will be covered up to a maximum of $50,000.

The Returning of Minor Children benefit covers the expenses if you are hospitalized due to a covered illness/injury and is traveling alone with child(ren) 19 or under that otherwise would be left unattended, a good travel medical insurance policy will pay up to $50,000 for one way economy fare to their home country, including a chaperone, if necessary, for the safety of the child(ren).

The Political Evacuation benefit covers you if the United States Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs issues a travel advisory that becomes effective on or after the Insured Person’s date of arrival in the Host Country, the Company will pay up to $10,000 for transportation to the nearest place of safety or for repatriation to the Insured Person’s home country or country of residence provided that: you contact the insurance company within 10 days of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Consular affairs issues the travel advisory. Political Evacuation and Repatriation is approved and coordinated by the insurance company. To be eligible for the Evacuation, Reunion and Return benefits, these must be recommended by the attending physician in critical medical situations, and approved in advance and coordinated by the insurance company.

If any of these tragic events occur during your travels and you have a good travel medical insurance policy you can see that you will be very well covered and protected by having a good travel medical insurance policy. How expensive is health insurance in the United States is it only a one off payment per year or is it monthly?

I know that there has been a lot of arguments for and against free health in the United States because millions of Americans can’t afford health insurance so I am wondering how much health insurance is in the States and can do you have to pay monthly or yearly plans with insurance companies.

How to get low income health insurance in Virginia

It happens with majority of low income families—they usually try to avoid having a health insurance policy or miss making premium payments and therefore have their policies lapse. Even if a member of a low income family is employed, he/she stands lower chances of getting group health insurance provided by the employer because mostly high-paying employees are offered health insurance.

The condition of a low income family is very confusing—if they are not employed, they get benefits offered by the government of Virginia. However, if they get some employment, which however does not allow them to pay premiums, they are not even provided public benefits. In such a case, it becomes utterly important to know how to get low income health insurance in Virginia, as there are some options available that can suffice.

To start with, a consumer should get in touch with an insurance agent and ask to find a suitable health insurance policy that has lower premium rates that are affordable. At the same time, contacting the insurance department of Virginia is also an option. The department does maintain a list of cheap premium health insurance policy providers.

Apart from this, some options that would be useful to low income families are:

  1. Medicare or Medicaid Policy: This is a type of insurance provided by the government. The policy itself is financed equally by the federal and the state governments, but the policies are maintained by the state governments. These policies cover low income group individuals, children and senior citizens, especially citizens above the age of 65. However, there are some eligibility conditions to get insured under these policies, like if a consumer does not have American citizenship, he/she can’t avail this policy; the assets along with the income would also be considered while reviewing the low income status of an individual. But overall, these policies make one of the best choices for low income health insurance plans in Virginia.
  2. Health Savings Account (HSA): HSA is like a saving account where money is deposited and can be used in case of healthcare needs. It works in tandem with High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). The savings from that account is used for over-the-counter medicines, prescription, visit to the physician, etc.
  3. Mini Medical Insurance: This is a low income insurance plan and is quite suitable for families having low income status in Virginia.
  4. Low Income Health Insurance Companies: As mentioned in the beginning of this article, there are some low income health insurance companies in Virginia, which are listed with the insurance department of the state. The plans offered by these companies offer packages that do not pay for regular checkups but provide care in case of an accident or major illness.
  5. State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP): If a low income family has children below the age of 19 years, S-CHIP plans would be a very good option. The simple eligibility for qualifying for this plan is the gross family income, which should be less than $40,000.

Have any “Republican business owners” had to lay people off due to increases in health insurance costs?

just wondering?

they say if they get a 1 percent increase in taxes that they are going to have to lay off half their workforce…

what about a 10 percent increase in health care costs? I’ve seen several of those in the past 10 years?

or do they even offer insurance?

Getting Around Pre-existing Conditions When it Comes to Texas Health Insurance

Having a pre-existing condition can make getting health insurance in Texas very complicated. Unfortunately, some companies will not give you insurance at all if you have a pre-existing condition. Even if you are lucky enough to get the insurance, you will get it at a much higher rate and with a higher deductible because you are considered to be high risk.

Fortunately, there is an answer for people with pre-existing conditions that need health insurance in Texas. The answer is the Texas Health Insurance Risk Pool, aka the Texas Health Pool, which provides health insurance in Texas for people who might not otherwise be able to qualify. They are a godsend for people who have a pre-existing condition.

There is, unfortunately, a downside to this type of health insurance alternative and that is that it costs twice as much as normal insurance for a couple of reasons. The first is due to the limited number of resources of this type that are available. And the second reason is that people with pre-existing conditions are otherwise uninsurable so the Texas Health Pool has a corner on this market. For people without any other viable alternative for health insurance in Texas this is the best and sometimes their only available option.

The Texas Health Insurance Risk Pool insurance can be used to cover doctor’s visits, hospital stays and prescription drug costs. Serious mental health problems can also be covered by this type of health insurance in Texas. The one thing that is covered by most insurance companies that is not covered by the pool is help for chemical dependency issues.

There are guidelines issued by the federal government that dictate who is eligible for this type health insurance coverage in Texas. Another requirement is that your application for health insurance with another insurance company must have been denied due to your pre-existing condition and you will have to produce documentation to prove this when you apply.

Dependents of people who are covered with health insurance in Texas by Texas Health Pool may also be eligible for this type of insurance coverage. There are also certain types of medical conditions that will automatically qualify you for coverage in the pool. You will need to provide documentation from a health insurance agency that would prove your inability to get coverage through the traditional insurance companies.

A person with a pre-existing condition needs health insurance in Texas more than anyone else and not being able to get it can be frustrating. Fortunately, there is something that can be done. Everyone needs and deserves to have proper health care for a reasonable cost. It is essential that states, like Texas, have programs like the Texas insurance pool in place to allow people with pre-existing conditions to get the quality health care they need and deserve. The implementation of the Texas Health Insurance Risk Pool is likely one of the most significant improvements in Texas, at least as far as health insurance for people with serious needs is concerned.
