Can a liberal challenge me?
I guess the DMV is awesome in service.
Government housing is so great because it has the highest crime rates in America.
I’m being sarcastic, the health care reform will just clog hospitals like the DMV, where you get a number, go to a window, and see a nurse to “asset” how much of a priority you are. I like the idea of being treated on the spot by a private doctor and not waiting for treatment.
Costs can go down if we increase competition by eliminating state lines, letting health insurance companies sell in any state. Don’t think it works? Then tell me how come JP Morgan Chase Bank is in NY on Wall Street, and I live in CA.
Competition will also increase when you remove medicare/medicaid. The Elderly/Poor it provides for still pay for auto insurance. Keep the principals the same. If there was autocaid and autocare, I guarantee auto insurance would be expensive, there wouldn’t be low rates since autocaid would give it for free to the poor, eliminating the lowest quote possible.
Public Option will be the stepping stone to socialism, it won’t create competition. You’re a fool to believe this. Simply because a Non-Profit Government Ran Can’t Go Bankrupt Organization, can’t ever lose to a Profiting Company. Once all the profit company’s go bankrupt, all that’s left is the public option, which makes us socialistic. We will all eventually be paying for government ran health care. Don’t you see the legislation is going to slowly bump us to socialism. Remove all legislation that hurts private health care, and it will flourish, like everything else that isn’t bound by government legislation.
Yo!: Nice the average brain dead liberal. The military can not, I repeat, can not generate revenue. It can never be a business. So I do support them. Thanks for trying.
Alex: Wow Alex you’re all over a mess. For starters those programs you listed are all monopoly’s in their industry. There is a reason why FedEx and UPS doesn’t try mailing letters, they are getting killed by a non-profit system. Social-Security is actually pointless, since it’s the assumption that the population will increase to have the youth pay for the elderly. Rather, investments like stocks/bonds/real-estate/businesses, all are independent. I’d rather the individual invest that money for them self. If social security works so fine like you claim, tell me why people past 65 still work? Everyone that is retired, is retired because of their assets. Every financial adviser will tell you don’t depend on social security.
Second competition drives the private sector, there is a reason why there is no clothes, shoes, pizza, watch, car, what ever crisis. Since the government doesn’t touch or regulate those things heavily. It’s the consumers which are you and I dictating what we want.
caldude1010101: Really? You’re going to tell me that it will turn into a monopoly? To debunk this, I’ll use Wal*Mart as an example so your little mind can get educated. Wal*Mart is the biggest distributor in America. Wal*Mart sells everything from electronics, to groceries, to school supplies, to home garden plants. (Locations may vary)
That means Wal*Mart’s several sections are competing with different stores. Let’s use Electronics, Wal*Mart sells an x-box. Now name every other place you can buy an x-box. Some can be Game Stop, Best Buy, Target, Costco, Local Vendors (Electronic boutique in the malls here), etc…
This can be applied to many other departments of the store. The thing in Free Market Capitalism you FAIL to understand is. Is that if one company is too expensive, someone will start a better costly service/product and compete in that market. Coca-Cola in the 60′s was the biggest supplier of soda, until Pepsi, Shasta, Fanta, and all these other companies arrived.
Greg: There is a difference between a hospital, medical clinic, and a private doctors office. If you go to the hospital, of course it will be jammed because of all the emergency’s that randomly happen. Medical Clinics are poorly funded through the government, that one is obvious, the service sucks the government cares about quantity not quality. Private Doctors are the best, due to the chance of losing clientele. If the Doctor isn’t good in practice, is not fast enough, of course he/she will lose their clients. So the private doctors cater to these things so you don’t get medical help some where else and they lose money. They do care if you go to them or not. If they have bad practice reputation will get out, no one will go there and he/she loses. It’s very simple, the public dictate what they want. That’s why Yahoo Answers can sell advertisement for a profit, and not charge you to be on here. Since they make more money giving this site for free and banking on advertising, then a fee.
caldude1010101: They went out of business because they failed to meet the markets demands. The Unions where the reasons why a lot of local businesses died. It was not cost effective. Second 50% of the GNP comes from small businesses. You really need to look around, go to the malls, local town centers, and any where in your city/town. You’ll notice majority of the buildings are not sky scrapers. They’re small businesses and franchises.
I also want you to understand K-Mart down sized dramatically a while ago and almost went bankrupt. Circuit City was a major corporation like you demonize, and they went crashing down. It’s any ones game. Really anyone can lose or win. Wal*Mart was once a small business. So are you going to boycott a small local store because they became successful and formed into a large corporation? If anything the entertainment industry is less competitive. Listen to the radio, you hear the same 5 artists. Only way you can compete is if you can get into the radio waves
Art Vandelay: There is a difference between promotional and enforcement. They are enforcing you to get public option health care by taxing your health care plan if it’s too good. That doesn’t promote health, that enforces people to change to the public option. Not to mention it’s not promotional when everyone will be taxed by the government to pay for it. You think the money that Obama spent came out of plain air? The money to start this, the billions of dollars are tax payer dollars. Welcome to socialism, there will be a VAT (Value Added Tax) everyone will pay on their health care. Which will go to the government, which is going to be the stepping stone to socialism. Wealth redistribution is happening, you ignore it, you better not seek me for advice.
